Chloe & Tom's Beautiful Backyard Wedding, Matakana

When I met Chloe & Tom back in March, for their beach engagement session, I knew straight away that theirs was going to be a great wedding to photograph!  They are such a fun couple and had a wonderful  laid back attitude to their wedding, and this came through in the style of the day, from start to finish!

Chloe & Tom's Engagement Session - Omaha Beach

Chloe & Tom's Engagement Session - Omaha Beach

On a warm summer evening a couple of week ago,  I met Chloe & Tom at Omaha beach for their engagement session.  I knew we were going to get on when we started the shoot with some nice cold ciders that Tom had brought along - clearly he knew the way to my heart!

I absolutely loved inviting these couples into my new studio, hearing their stories and learning a little more about their thoughts on a successful relationship.  Some of these couples hadn't had a professional photo taken since their wedding day, so it was amazing to work with them and watch them relax and enjoy their time with each other in front of my camera.

Shane & Laura started their day at Laura's family home.  They opted to see each other before the ceremony, which meant we could take advantage of their local beach, overlooking Rangitoto Island, for some beautiful Bridal Party photographs.

In fact, this wedding really did have it all... gorgeous Bride & Groom, perfect location, lots and lots of laughter and fun, topped off with some crazy dance moves at the end!  I left with a huge smile on my face, and rain or shine - this was definitely a day to remember!

Looking at these photos just makes me smile!! Hayley and Gavin are a beautiful couple, but it is Hayley's smile that really makes the photos!! She literally lit up every room she walked into... and her infectious laugh was so much fun to be around!

8 Reasons to have an Engagement Shoot!

8 Reasons to have an Engagement Shoot!

I am sure, during your search for an Auckland wedding photographer, that you have come across the idea of an engagement shoot a number of times!  Some wedding photographers offer them as an add on for a package, some don't offer them at all, and some include them as standard.  I fall into the third category, and here are 8 great reasons why I think you should consider an engagement session as part of your wedding photography.

Jaimee & Nicol's Wedding, Markovina Vineyard Estate, Kumeu

Jaimee & Nicol's Wedding, Markovina Vineyard Estate, Kumeu

The first wedding of the season is normally one of mixed emotions for a wedding photographer. I swing precariously between absolute excitement at getting to experience more beautiful weddings, meet new couples and do what genuinely makes me happy - photograph people and their gorgeous weddings; and extreme nerves - what if I have totally forgotten how to use my camera?!!

Shana & Dan's Maternity Shoot

Shana & Dan's Maternity Shoot

I first met with Shana & Dan a few days before their maternity shoot, to have a chat about outfits, and ideas for their session, We decided to do the shoot at their home in Orewa.  The light was just stunning there, and they had just finished setting up the nursery which was looking lovely.  They were both very keen for their shoot to be as relaxed as possible, which I love, and it really suits that at home look.

James & Asal's Wedding, Mantells on the Water, Auckland City

James & Asal's Wedding, Mantells on the Water, Auckland City

James and Asal got married on a beautiful late summers day, at Mantells on the water, a quirky, classy and fun wedding venue in Auckland city centre.

Their wedding matched the venue perfectly, it was a gorgeous day, and the love James and Asal had for each other brought a tear to many eyes (mine included!!) After the ceremony, the newly-weds tied a length of rope into a reef knot - a knot that gets stronger the more it is pulled, and a symbol of their relationship.  It fitted in perfectly with the harbour-side location, and really resonated with me as I was given a ring in the shape of the same knot by my Fiance!

Amanda (Amanda Wignell Photography) and I went to meet Emma, getting ready at her family bach in Omaha and what a way to start a beautiful day!  We were greeted by her lovely family, and made to feel comfortable from the moment we walked in.  She had a small bridal party of her sister and best friend, and there was so much love between the three of them.

Andrew & Jess's Wedding, Ascension Wine Estate, Matakana

This weekend, we had one of those stunning New Zealand summer days, where the crickets buzz in the grass,  the sun beats down relentlessly, and a cooling wind blows in off the sea. And I photographed Andrew & Jess' beautiful vineyard wedding with the lovely Amanda, from Amanda Wignall Photography.

Dani & Cam's Wedding, Markovina Vineyard, Kumeu

Markovina Vineyard is a very popular wedding venue in Kumeu, Auckland, and it is easy to understand why!  I absolutely love the chilled out vibe you get there, and the vines covering the roof of the restaurant are just amazing - it feels like you are in an indoor forest, not to mention the beautiful grounds for the ceremony.  (Plus they always look after us with snacks...way to my heart!!)

Andrew & Julia's Wedding, Opito Bay, Keri Keri

Andrew & Julia's Wedding, Opito Bay, Keri Keri

Andrew & Julia travelled from their home in Australia, back to Andrew's home-town Keri Keri, to say their vows in front of family & friends in the stunning Opito Bay.

Their theme for the day was Peace, Love & Rock'n'Roll, and everyone chipped in to make the day the success that it was.  Julia's bouquet of vintage brooches was made by Andrew's very talented Mum, Andrew's Grandmother officiated the ceremony, and all the family chipped in to help decorate the reception at Opito Bay Cruising Club.  The result was lovely and the day was definitely filled with Peace, a lot of Love, some pretty Rock'n'Roll dancing, some happy tears of joy, and a lot of laugh-out-loud moments!!
